Alligator Island

I painted this after visiting Florida. I was interested in how the shape of the alligator’s head and snout, along with the reflection, created something that looked like an island or landscape.

I focused on the eye and its reflection, and used a range of blues and greens with some tan highlights. The piece also has a modern drip feeling.
